Oreana delivers first town centre for Kalkallo
Oreana is proud to deliver Kalkallo residents their first shopping centre – the $70 million Kallo Town Centre, giving locals the chance to shop in their own suburb for the first time.
The opening of the fully leased town centre is staged, with Woolworths, Ferguson Plarre and Cignall the to start trading, to be followed by the specialty stores in the coming months.
The Numbers
- 2.1-hectare site, located on the corner of Toyon Road and Cloverton Blvd within the City of Hume
- 30 retailers, offices and service providers
- 7,120sqm of gross lettable area
- 1,980 sqm, 148 places Aspire childcare centre
- 400sqm of office
- 2,200sqm padsite earmarked for a future service station
The Tenants
The town centre includes a full-line Woolworths full line supermarket, Aspire Early Education & Kindergarten, Snap Fitness 24/7 gym, and 20 specialty stores.
Specialty stores include Chemist Warehouse, Gibbs Family Bakehouse, Sadda Pind Indian restaurant, Nanak Indian Grocer, The Coffee Club, BWS and Thirsty Camel bottle stores, Domino’s, Paoletto’s Pizza, Tokyo Sushi Express, Infinity Skincare Clinic and Medical Select along with a range of other convenience offerings.
The Beneficiaries
Kallo Town Centre services several masterplanned communities, including Stockland’s Cloverton development, with the main trade area forecast to service a future population of 380,000 across Melbourne’s outer northern suburbs, fuelling a predicted available retail expenditure of $159 million by 2031.
The Kallo Town Centre is a major milestone for Kalkallo and the surrounding suburbs, and a win for retailers, with the population of Hume and Whittlesea predicted to increase by 15,000 people per year over the next decade.
The Design
Kallo Town Centre has been thoughtfully designed in collaboration with i2C and Clarke Hopkins Clarke, to deliver social, lifestyle and economic benefits to a fast-growing community.
Kallo is Oreana’s largest town centre to date and builds on the innovative centres we have previously developed in Melbourne’s growth corridors.
The Oreana Commitment
Oreana believes the success of greenfield developments and major growth corridors ultimately depends on government and property groups committing to the delivery of key infrastructure and community amenity early in a project’s lifecycle.
Kallo Town Centre delivers convenient retail offerings to a local community that was living without the luxury of convenience.
Unfortunately, Kalkallo isn’t the only suburb experiencing the frustration of driving up to 30 minutes to find a major supermarket.
Oreana is committed to improving access to services for people across outer Melbourne and Kallo Town Centre is just one of many neighbourhood projects we have either completed or in the pipeline.
